Rackline, specialists in complete storage solutions, has launched a revolutionary new file management system which takes this concept to another level. Filetrak is a unique system which uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to track the location of any file, document or archive box, giving staff instant access to its location and significantly increasing retrieval time by as much as 50%. Each item is tagged and the data is then fed into a PC running Filetrak software. Members of staff can access the information to discover which files are used the most, and by who. This can save on office space as inaccessed files can be stored in archive areas. Brian Horan, Rackline’s owner and managing director, comments: “RFID is a vast improvement over bar code systems. The tags are very versatile. They can be used to identify a wide range of products with enhanced security - as each tag has a unique imbedded identification number that cannot be copied. “In addition, the tag is resistant to water, oils, chemicals
and reflected light, and can be repeatedly re-written, reducing costs.
With their long life span, large data memory capacity and their ability
to be read without being seen, they offer a truly versatile solution.”
Filetrak also offers significant benefits in terms of security. Each user has a PIN number which allows the organisation to restrict access to sensitive files. This is particularly effective if linked to Powertrak – Rackline’s electronic mobile system. Rackline specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of
innovative space saving storage solutions. They have a wide range of
clients across a variety of sectors including architects, financial
organisations, legal firms and the public sector.
